ROOFING ADVICE

Should I Repair or Replace My Roof?

The right choice depends on whether the defect is isolated or part of wider deterioration across the roof.

Should I Repair or Replace My Roof?

Repair can make sense when

The roof is broadly sound, the leak source is identifiable and damage is limited to a manageable area such as tiles, slate, flashing or a local junction.

Replacement becomes more likely when

Leaks recur in several places, the covering is heavily deteriorated, large areas need attention or repeated patch repairs are adding up without solving the underlying problem.

Look beyond the visible stain

Water can travel along timbers or membranes before it appears indoors. The internal mark is not always directly under the external defect.

Get the scope in writing

Whether repair or renewal is recommended, the quotation should explain what is being repaired, what is excluded and what may change if hidden damage is discovered.

Important: Rules, prices and site conditions vary. For planning or Building Regulations questions, check the current guidance from your local authority and the official Planning Portal before committing to work.
